Report Shows More Residents Leaving Florida

Hopefully it is not the native Floridians who have put up with a lot of crap from all of the people who have over run Florida from other places, and have finally had enough. Read the news story here. Maybe if we have a real active hurricane season, it will send a few more of the annoying transplants packing. If they restrict air conditioning and stop mosquito control there could even be an mass exodus.

It's Official...July 30th

It seems that there is a conservative movement that is going to demonstrate to the Obama administration how much clout the conservatives truly have. On July 30th, conservatives are going to call into work to voice their dissatisfaction with the way things are going. I wondered what would happen if the Obama supporters did this to protest something they disagreed with...like say firearms.. Would it make as much of a noticeable impact? It seems that I see a lot Obama stickers on the cars of college kids (who aren't employed yet) and quite a lot of people who appear to be on public assistance. For them, it just might be another day of not working anyways. I don't have any hard data to prove this. It is just what I have observed. Mileage may vary.

Gunman's Own Gun Turned Against Him In Shooting

Titusville, Fla. -- A man who eyewitnesses said tried to shoot another man ended up having his own gun turned against him after it jammed.

Titusville police say Jonathan Gillyard attempted to shoot Shermaine Mitchell on Mayfair Way. When Gillyard pulled the trigger, the gun jammed. That's when witnesses said Mitchell grabbed the gun and shot Gillyard.

Titusville has changed a lot in the last ten years. Wait until the space shuttle program shuts down and the exodus happens, as space center employees flee to a new location and property values plummet. There is a chance that crime there potentially could go through the roof. When people attempt to do violent crime, there is a chance that this is the last thing they will ever see.

You’re Missing the Point Jon Boy…

Every once in a while rock stars attempt to do something noble. Such is the case with Jon Bon Jovi and his recent remake of the song “Stand by Me” to show solidarity and concern for the rights of the Iranian people who are being suppressed by a tyrannical government. Now the irony. Jon Bon Jovi also did a concert earlier this year to try and help raise money for Hillary Clinton so that she could pay off her campaign debt, which most likely indicates that he also voted for “change”. Ponder the surrealism of that for a moment.

Gun Shy strongly suggests that the readers melt down any Bon Jovi records that they have and make hair spray out of them as a form of protest to show solidarity for the constitutional rights of all Americans that were trampled on by the Clinton administration (second amendment/"assault weapons" ban, the Waco fopa, etc) and now the Obama administration and its anti second amendment stance featuring Ms Clinton who Mr Bon Jovi supports... thanks so much for caring Jon.

It should be noted, that the very thing that stands in the way of the U.S. becoming a nation like Iran is our constitution, which the current administration is attempting to whittle away at daily as you Jon sing to support some of the people who are attempting to erode it. Thou hypocrite.

Joe Biden...deer in the headlights

The young man who tried to interview Joe Biden has some set in my opinion. After the questions that this young reporter (probably one of those tea party nuts) presented, Joe must be wondering how much of a threat "assault weapons" really are in comparison to the allegations presented by this young man. Luxury ocean liners in Russia are offering pirate hunting cruises aboard armed private yachts off the Somali coast. Wealthy punters pay £3,500 per day to patrol the most dangerous waters in the world hoping to be attacked by raiders.

Man attempts to strangle Eola swans

This townis full of nuts. You can read the article here.

Four years ago, one of the swans was strangled to death, so when Park Director Leonard Falcon saw a man holding two swans by the neck, he immediately called the police. "He was holding the swan by the neck," said Falcon. "He grabbed another swan ... and went to swing that one over the neck. I yelled, 'drop that swan!' so he dropped the swan."

Here is something interesting to note.

The swans of Lake Eola are micro chipped and belong to the City of Orlando.

Since the "chipped" swans are by default city staff, maybe they can give the injured swans some comp sky box tickets to a Magic game to help them recover.

Always Carry a Backup…

And make sure you rotate your ammo out to insure that it is ready for action.

Suspect Steals Rare Coin, Manager Fires Shot

The $20,000 theft was caught on several security cameras. The bandit was in and out in just a few seconds. "Runs out into the parking lot, drops it, goes chasing after it. It was pretty comical. That's all he had time to get," she said. However, Vickie had time to grab her gun, but luckily for the thief, the weapon misfired twice. The bullets she said were 20 years old. "When they're old, they won't work?" asked WFTV reporter Berndt Petersen. "Right," she replied. "So, I re-chambered one and got one off. I'm pretty sure I hit the back of his truck."

I have heard stories of ammo that was produced for the second world war that still fired when chambered recently. It all depends on how it was stored. Sometimes people mistake a dirty firing pin for bad ammo, because it causes light strikes. With that being said, it is wise to rotate out your ammo anyways.

Are You Sure All Those Guns in Mexico Aren't From America?

yeah...I'm sure

Take a look at this:

92 Mexican police arrested in drug cartel investigation

Federal agents arrested 92 municipal police officers accused of providing information and security to one of Mexico's most ruthless drug cartels, the state-run Notimex news agency reported...

...So far, the news agency said, the investigation has led to the arrests of 124 suspects and the discovery of 12 safe houses in which 14 secret graves were found.

Hmmmm... I wonder who's guns were used to kill those 14 people?

Maybe now Hillary, Pelosi, and friends can give their flappin' yaps a rest.

Police: Orange Co. Family Attacked, House Burned

Police said one person was taken to the hospital after armed assailants busted into an East Orange County home, tried to kill the family living there and then set the house on fire. Police said an unspecified number of people broke into the home on Old Cheney Highway Thursday afternoon and tried to kill the family there. After the assailants believed the family dead, police said they set the house on fire and ran away.

Typically, a decent quality 12 gauge pump shotgun loaded with 00 can equalize an "unspecified number of people", or even Domestic Urban Terrorists for that matter.

One millionth sex offender alert sent

Read this. Here is a quote:

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement sent out its one millionth sex offender e-mail alert Tuesday. The Florida Offender Alert System, which was launched last year, sends e-mail alert notifications when registered sexual offenders or predators move into a neighborhood or any other location designated by the user.

I am not sure if the readers are aware, but Florida only has a population of 18,328,340. The million milestone only represents one year of being in service. This boggles my mind. Could we assume that one in eighteen people living in Florida is a sex offender?

Teen attacks man on bus

When the bus driver and another SCAT employee on the bus stopped and attempted to help the victim, the suspect beat both employees.

Several other passengers and the SCAT employees identified the suspect who was taken into custody as identified as Tony Everett, 18 who was later apprehended. He was arrested and charged with robbery and battery on person over 65. Everett was booked in Brevard County Jail. Bond was set at $20,500.

So let me get this straight. The "several other passengers" watched as this elderly man and the two SCAT employees who tried to help him got beat, but they didn't deem it important enought to help them take (beat) the suspect down.

"Friendly Fire" Isn't Really Very Friendly

Teen Shot, Deputies Injured In Orange County

A 16-year-old driving a stolen vehicle was shot by deputies Thursday after they followed him into a convenience store he was about to rob, investigators said. An officer was injured during the shooting at the Chevron gas station on Silverstar Road and Belco Drive Thursday morning…

…Investigators said the teen suspect had a handgun. The deputies fired at the suspect, hitting him at least once...

…Another deputy, 35-year-old Hope Cieszynski, from a fugitive unit happened to be in the restroom and was struck by a gun shot or possibly by shrapnel in the left knee when a round fired by fellow deputies went through the wall.

It appears that the department may need to do a refresher course for the officers in reference to “the four rules” of firearms safety. Let me list them now for those who are not clear about them:

Rule # 1
Treat all guns as if they are loaded.
Rule # 2
Never let the muzzle of a gun point at anything you do not want to destroy or kill.
Rule # 3
Keep your finger straight and off the trigger.
Rule # 4
Be absolutely sure of your target, and what is behind it.

Freindly fire isn't really very friendly. and collateral damage is just a nice way to say that someone is toast because of someone's mis-calculation.

Keep a Close Eye on the Banks

Bank Locks Woman Out Of Her Own Home

Eyewitness News found an Osceola County homeowner won her battle in court to save her home from foreclosure, but the bank wouldn't listen. Ana Chavez used to live on Killamanjaro Drive until the Bank of America changed her door locks in violation of a court ruling. A judge told the bank that if Chavez does not get her keys by noon Thursday, he's is dismissing the foreclosure lawsuit and the bank will face more penalties. In the meantime, the bank couldn't explain why it took over a house it did not own.

As taxpayers, maybe we should take a closer look at the practices of Bank of America. Here is a little blurb from wikipedia:

Federal bailout

Bank of America received US $20 billion in federal bailout from the US government through the TARP program on 16 January 2009 and also got guarantee of US $118 billion in potential losses at the company. This was in addition to the $25 billion given to them in the Fall of 2008 through TARP. The additional payment was part of a deal with the US government to preserve Bank of America's merger with the troubled investment firm Merrill Lynch. Since then, members of the US Congress have expressed considerable concern about how this money has been spent, especially since some of the recipients have been accused of mis-using the bailout money. The Bank's CEO, Ken Lewis, was quoted as claiming "We are still lending, and we are lending far more because of the TARP program." Members of the US House of Representatives, however, were skeptical and quoted many anecdotes about loan applicants (particularly small business owners) being denied loans and credit card holders facing stiffer terms on the debt in their card accounts. According to a March 15, 2009 article in The New York Times, Bank of America received an additional $5.2 billion in government bailout money which was channeled through American International Group.

Crime has many different personas. Enough said.

That is Your Reward For Giving Them A Break

Couple Fights Back Against Home Invaders

The couple took action and fought back against the two intruders. The homeowner even managed to get the crook's gun. "At that point I was going to take his life and he begged for his life, ''I don't want to die, I don't want to die, please don't kill me, let me go,'" said the homeowner. Afterward, the men ran off, but they turned around and shot at the house. One of the bullets grazed the homeowner's shoulder. Lee County deputies say they are looking for the two bold thieves.

Let’s review what happened in this incident. The homeowner made the bold move to disarm the assailant, and took control of his weapon. The homeowner then decided to give the violent home invaders a break. As they fled, they showed their gratitude for the break by throwing some hot lead at the homeowner who was struck in the shoulder.

Gun Shy’s first rule of engagement when dealing with Domestic Urban Terrorists is this. If you decide not to shoot them, once you have put the perpetrators under control (PUC), hold them at gunpoint until the authorities arrive. The very fact that you did not shoot them on sight was their break. If they try to attack you in the interim, then their break becomes null and void, and you immediately move to the original plan. If you suffer from a momentary lapse of reasoning and let them go, they will most likely go on to harm others, and you will be responsible morally because you did not end their spree of destruction when you had the chance to do so.

Gang Members Busted At Park With Deadly Weapons

POSTED: Thursday, December 15, 2005

ORLANDO, Fla. -- Orlando police arrested more than 20 gang members Thursday night carrying exotic deadly weapons, including brass knuckles with long attached steel blades, according to Local 6 News. Investigators said 14 teenagers and eight adults were charged with the possession of deadly weapons at Demetree Park after officers spotted up to 60 teens getting ready to fight.

You will note the date on the above report is from 2005, a full 4 years ago. My first question is, why is the local media doing the job of local law enforcement, and how long would these sales have kept going on if this reporter did not break this story? I think that someone has some explaining to do to the citizens of the greater Orlando area.

Those Who Prey on the Elderly

Serial Purse Snatchers Attack Two More Victims

Victoria Moody was attacked as she walked to her car at the Publix on State Road 441 in Leesburg. The female suspect yanked so hard on the 85-year-old’s purse, that the straps cut her arms. But Moody wouldn’t let go. “I couldn't believe that someone would do that to a person my age,” Moody said…

…One of the women approached an elderly woman as she was putting her groceries away. In a matter of seconds, the suspect yanked the purse from Lila Gifford, pulling the 92-year-old woman to the ground, police said. No one saw the attack. Gifford lied on the scorching hot asphalt for at least 30 seconds. She suffered a broken arm and second- and third-degree burns on her hands, according to investigators.

I found this comment at the bottom of the article from a reader to be of interest:

Please try to grab my purse! I'm 53 years old and will beat you two cowards within an inch of your lives. I shop at the Publix in Clermont on 27 on Friday evenings. I have a real nice Louis V. bag...real, not the junk you are used to...with lots of cash and credit cards. Oh yeah, my concealed firearms permit is in there too, but I'll put a bullet in your chest before you get to see it.

It appears that the armed citizenry are becoming more intolerant towards abuse of the elderly these days. Maybe people like the one who left the comment should get those comp tickets to the Magic games.

You’ve Got to Fight.. For Your Right.. to Carry

Sung to the Beastie Boy’s “You’ve Got to Fight For Your Right to Party"

You wake up late for college –but your gun can’t go
You ask the politicians, "Please?" - but they still say, "No!"
They “know what’s best for you” – they didn't do their homework
Because the “facts” that they’re babblin' makes them look like freakin jerks
(chorus) You gotta fight.. for your right.. to carry

In DC they ask to carry - politicians said, "No way!"
But those hypocrites have their own security- each and every day
I guess living in New York isn’t really such a drag
They’ve only restricted a pistol to a ten round mag (for now)

(chorus) You gotta fight.. for your right.. to carry

The speaker of the house asks “Is that the gun you're gonna wear”?
"I'll lock you up in San Fran' mister don't you dare"
Hillary busted in and said, "Hey what's that noise?"
Nothing important - your TV speech - it's just the sound of your own voice!

(repeat chorus twice)

Gun Control Works Out Really Well...

...for the petty tyrants and oppressors of the world.

Check out this quote from this article about the young woman who was murdered in Iran:

A friend of hers interprets the fact that her body was released so quickly as a tacit acknowledgment by the government that the killing was carried out by government forces. That theory is supported by the fact that Iran's strict gun-control laws mean private citizens cannot carry firearms, the friend said.

I discussed this in an earlier commentary found here where I stated this:

If the citizens of Iran were as heavily armed as Americans are currently after the frenzied firearms buying that we have witnessed in the last year, then the outcome of this report about those innocent people murdered in Iran would have been very different. Think about it.

Liberal Noo Joisey Gun Grabbers

Tam has a good one over at her blog.

For the readers who are not familiar, New Jersey is the state that requires you to have a permit just to transport your pistol from your house to the shooting range, but that does not entitle you to carry concealed. Typically, the only people who get CCW in New Jersey are former law enforcement. It should be noted that violent crime there is out of control in cities like Newark and Camden just to name a few. Of course, not everyone in New Jersey is happy with their anal gun laws. In the last ten years, I have seen a lot of this liberal poison creeping into the South, and most of it migrates here from the northern cities (northern country folk are fine). There is an old saying here in the south, that states they should outlaw air conditioning and mosquito control so that all of the "yankees" will go back up north. As a person who has spent a lot of time in both the north and the south, Gun Shy is starting to see the logic in that more and more as the years go by.

Some Days Things Just Go Your Way

First watch this video.

What the news failed to tell you, is that the victim fought off an attacker who was armed with a pump shotgun with his .380 pistol. That right folks. The rules of weaponry clearly define that this is not a good idea but Mr Firby had no choice, because he knew that he had to make a move to protect his family, his possessions, and his life, so he tried to shoot first and accurately as he could with his little .380 and it just worked out for him. Gun Shy has always admired the do or die warrior spirit exhibited by Americans when push comes to shove.

Iran Murders “Dissidents”…

Michell Malkin has an exceptional article that can be found here.

America has always been good at being outraged by the atrocities committed by other governments, which I agree do need to be brought to light, and thank God people like Michelle Malkin are reporting on this tragedy. With that being said, some of the readers may remember an incident that occurred at Kent State University, when a group of national guardsmen fired their weapons from a kneeling position at unarmed (no firearms) students who were protesting and creating a disturbance on the campus. A total of sixty seven rounds were fired in a span of about thirteen seconds. Four students died and nine others were wounded. One student was permanently paralyzed. No one was ever prosecuted for those shootings. Here is a still picture from that incident that you can compare with the pictures that are coming out of Iran.

Here is a video presentation:

More pictures can be viewed here.

Whether you agree with what the Kent State protesters represented or not, the bottom line was that they were young college students who were American citizens. Do any of the readers believe that this could never happen here again? The people who want extreme gun control aren’t really against violence. Mr Clinton had no problem with Waco, nor did he have a problem with signing the so called assault weapons ban into law. In the final analysis, what they are really against is you as a private citizen being able to defend you and your family against violence from wherever it originates. The founding fathers realized this, and that is why they had the vision and foresight to give us the second amendment. If the citizens of Iran were as heavily armed as Americans are currently after the frenzied firearms buying that we have witnessed in the last year, then the outcome of this report about those innocent people murdered in Iran would have been very different. Think about it.

Why Are the Feds So Jumpy Recently?

Gun Shy believes that if any private citizen arms dealers are illegally trafficking weapons into other countries, they should be busted. Of course, that also should include anyone that is associated with government offices as well, just to be fair. With that being said, this article really made me scratch my head, especially in light of all the statistics that have been shown to be incorrect recently in reference to the guns that are being used by Mexican drug cartels.

Do You Want to Play Laser Tag?

Laser Forces Sheriff's Chopper To Land - Laser Located; 3 Questioned

Three people were being questioned after a laser was twice pointed at the eyes of an Orange County sheriff's helicopter pilot, who was forced to land the aircraft because his eyes were irritated, Local 6 News has learned. The helicopter was overhead a reported robbery on Orange Blossom Trail at Central Florida Parkway Saturday morning when the laser beam was directed toward the pilot. The second time the laser was pointed at the pilot, his eyes became irritated, Local 6 News reported.

There is a simple solution to this dangerous problem. There is a term called “painting”. It is when you use a laser to indicate a target, and then send out ordnance that tracks that laser to “find” its way to said target. They need to install a system that will track the source where the laser originates from, and then send them down a little present from the helo. The person pointing the laser at the helo will be the POI (point of impact). This is as surgical as you can get.

A Florida Representative Speaks Out...

...about the voodoo gun statistics errantly parroted over and over by politicians.

Rep. Connie Mack (R-Fla.)... said he was also "troubled by the fact that the report makes conclusions based on opinions and assumptions rather than facts."

"I don't know that the report itself is something that we should put a lot of value in," Mack said.

Mack noted that out of the 30,000 firearms seized in Mexico in fiscal 2008, the report says only 7,200 were submitted for tracing.

"Where did the other 22,000 guns that were seized come from? Venezuela? Europe? Ecuador? Nicaragua?" Mack asked, adding that the incomplete sample undermined some of the report's broader conclusions.

You can read about the discussion here.

As if all that weren’t enough, the president still found the time to kick our friends in London and Tel Aviv while courting a genocidal, election-stealing maniac in Tehran. He even gave a speech in Cairo — that oppressed, impoverished Old World megalopolis — in which he assured the world that America really is no better than anywhere else.

There has been a lot of hacking attempts and software engineered in places like China and the East Block which compromise the security of computer systems. I had a discussion the other day with a vendor who had my credit card information on file on his server. I flatly told him I wanted it removed, and he tried to insure me that it was encrypted and that no one could access it but them. I informed him that encryption is no guarantee of anything, and that he needed to remove my information as I had requested. His response was that they "did this for a living". My response was so does the federal government, which has way better systems than small private businesses do, and their systems get compromised.

I am posting this article for you perusal and education. I rest my case.

These acts seem to be occurring more and more. It appears that a new screening process is needed to profile those who would seek to get in positions of authority, in order to fulfill their twisted sexual fantasies. They should be given the maximum sentence, because they broke their oath to protect and serve, and they are an embarrassment to the law enforcement community.

The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office teamed up with local and state law enforcement on Thursday in a crime suppression operation in West Volusia that resulted in 40 arrests and 89 traffic citations…

…The Sheriff’s Office along with state probation officers and the DeLand, Orange City, Ormond Beach and Port Orange police departments joined forces in task force designed to suppress street crimes and gang activity….

…The Sheriff’s Office, which organized the operation, said it was a total success and more operations are planned in the future.

Preemptive law enforcement is effective. It takes criminals off the streets who are already dirty before they find their next victim. You never get rid of crime, but if enough pressure is applied, criminals move to a location with less law enforcement pressure.

It is refreshing to see a person in congress that actually respects the constitution in their actions, and not just in words. Read this article.

"I know for my family the only question we will be answering is how many people are in our home," she said. "We won't be answering any information beyond that, because the Constitution doesn't require any information beyond that."

Anthony G. Martin, the author of The Liberty Sphere blog has an interesting commentary on Mr O's ability to interpret constitutional law. You can find it here.

Mr O has stated in past speeches that he taught constitutional law. I can't believe it, but even MSNBC is critical of his proposals.

This Video Made Me Sad and Proud

It is a video about the return of one of the Sons of America, Staff Sgt. John Beale, who was KIA while serving our country honorably on foreign soil. The loss of this fine American is heart wrenching to Gun Shy, but to see all of the people who turned out in this small Georgia community to honor him, and the spirit of patriotism that was demonstrated by the crowd as our flag flew while the people saluted as the vehicle carrying this fallen hero passed by, made me realize that there are still good and decent people in our nation that understand the price of freedom and the sacrifice that goes along with keeping that freedom. Gun Shy recommends that you view this full screen and turn up the volume, and for all my hard core tough guy readers, it is okay to shed a tear.... Gun Shy did.

Florida is Heading in the Same Direction as California...

...towards bankruptcy.

Fla.'s Jobless Rate Hits 10.2 Percent - Agency Says 943,000 Floridians Unemployed

Florida's unemployment rate in May jumped to 10.2 percent -- its highest level in more than three decades. The state agency that tracks unemployment numbers said Friday that unemployment rose by half a percentage point over the revised April figure of 9.7 percent. The May figures represent the highest unemployment number in Florida since 1975 when it was 11 percent.

I just recently returned from living in California, and I can see all the same signs occurring in this state that I saw while living out there. Florida is about a year and a half behind them financially speaking on the road to being bankrupt as a state. Anyone got any comp magic tickets? (perk for the politicians)

The Shortcomings of Gun Control Revisited

chack out this article.

All Americans Should Read This Letter...

...from a woman in Arizona, and then ponder the logic it contains.

I will post it in its entirety:

I'm a home grown American citizen, 53, registered Democrat all my life. Before the last presidential election I registered as a Republican because I no longer felt the Democratic Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. Now I no longer feel the Republican Party represents my views or works to pursue issues important to me. The fact is I no longer feel any political party or representative in Washington represents my views or works to pursue the issues important to me. There must be someone. Please tell me who you are. Please stand up and tell me that you are there and that you're willing to fight for our Constitution as it was written. Please stand up now. You might ask yourself what my views and issues are that I would horribly feel so disenfranchised by both major political parties. What kind of nut job am I? Will you please tell me?

Well, these are briefly my views and issues for which I seek representation:

One, illegal immigration. I want you to stop coddling illegal immigrants and secure our borders. Close the underground tunnels. Stop the violence and the trafficking in drugs and people. No amnesty, not again. Been there, done that, no resolution. P.S., I'm not a racist. This isn't to be confused with legal immigration.

Two, the TARP bill, I want it repealed and I want no further funding supplied to it. We told you no, but you did it anyway. I want the remaining unfunded 95% repealed. Freeze, repeal.

Three: Czars, I want the circumvention of our checks and balances stopped immediately. Fire the czars. No more czars. Government officials answer to the process, not to the president. Stop trampling on our Constitution and honor it.

Four, cap and trade. The debate on global warming is not over. There is more to say.

Five, universal healthcare. I will not be rushed into another expensive decision. Don't you dare try to pass this in the middle of the night and then go on break. Slow down!

Six, growing government control. I want states rights and sovereignty fully restored. I want less government in my life, not more. Shrink it down. Mind your own business. You have enough to take care of with your real obligations. Why don't you start there.

Seven, ACORN. I do not want ACORN and its affiliates in charge of our 2010 census. I want them investigated. I also do not want mandatory escrow fees contributed to them every time on every real estate deal that closes. Stop the funding to ACORN and its affiliates pending impartial audits and investigations. I do not trust them with taking the census over with our taxpayer money. I don't trust them with our taxpayer money. Face up to the allegations against them and get it resolved before taxpayers get any more involved with them. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck, hello. Stop protecting your political buddies. You work for us, the people. Investigate.

Eight, redistribution of wealth. No, no, no. I work for my money. It is mine. I have always worked for people with more money than I have because they gave me jobs. That is the only redistribution of wealth that I will support. I never got a job from a poor person. Why do you want me to hate my employers? Why ‑‑ what do you have against shareholders making a profit?

Nine, charitable contributions. Although I never got a job from a poor person, I have helped many in need. Charity belongs in our local communities, where we know our needs best and can use our local talent and our local resources. Butt out, please. We want to do it ourselves.

Ten, corporate bailouts. Knock it off. Sink or swim like the rest of us. If there are hard times ahead, we'll be better off just getting into it and letting the strong survive. Quick and painful. Have you ever ripped off a Band‑Aid? We will pull together. Great things happen in America under great hardship. Give us the chance to innovate. We cannot disappoint you more than you have disappointed us.

Eleven, transparency and accountability. How about it? No, really, how about it? Let's have it. Let's say we give the buzzwords a rest and have some straight honest talk. Please try ‑‑ please stop manipulating and trying to appease me with clever wording. I am not the idiot you obviously take me for. Stop sneaking around and meeting in back rooms making deals with your friends. It will only be a prelude to your criminal investigation. Stop hiding things from me.

Twelve, unprecedented quick spending. Stop it now.

Take a breath. Listen to the people. Let's just slow down and get some input from some nonpoliticians on the subject. Stop making everything an emergency. Stop speed reading our bills into law. I am not an activist. I am not a community organizer. Nor am I a terrorist, a militant or a violent person. I am a parent and a grandparent. I work. I'm busy. I'm busy. I am busy, and I am tired. I thought we elected competent people to take care of the business of government so that we could work, raise our families, pay our bills, have a little recreation, complain about taxes, endure our hardships, pursue our personal goals, cut our lawn, wash our cars on the weekends and be responsible contributing members of society and teach our children to be the same all while living in the home of the free and land of the brave.

I entrusted you with upholding the Constitution. I believed in the checks and balances to keep from getting far off course. What happened? You are very far off course. Do you really think I find humor in the hiring of a speed reader to unintelligently ramble all through a bill that you signed into law without knowing what it contained? I do not. It is a mockery of the responsibility I have entrusted to you. It is a slap in the face. I am not laughing at your arrogance. Why is it that I feel as if you would not trust me to make a single decision about my own life and how I would live it but you should expect that I should trust you with the debt that you have laid on all of us and our children. We did not want the TARP bill. We said no. We would repeal it if we could. I am sure that we still cannot. There is such urgency and recklessness in all of the recent spending.

From my perspective, it seems that all of you have gone insane. I also know that I am far from alone in these feelings. Do you honestly feel that your current pursuits have merit to patriotic Americans? We want it to stop. We want to put the brakes on everything that is being rushed by us and forced upon us. We want our voice back. You have forced us to put our lives on hold to straighten out the mess that you are making. We will have to give up our vacations, our time spent with our children, any relaxation time we may have had and money we cannot afford to spend on you to bring our concerns to Washington. Our president often knows all the right buzzword is unsustainable. Well, no kidding. How many tens of thousands of dollars did the focus group cost to come up with that word? We don't want your overpriced words. Stop treating us like we're morons.

We want all of you to stop focusing on your reelection and do the job we want done, not the job you want done or the job your party wants done. You work for us and at this rate I guarantee you not for long because we are coming. We will be heard and we will be represented. You think we're so busy with our lives that we will never come for you? We are the formerly silent majority, all of us who quietly work , pay taxes, obey the law, vote, save money, keep our noses to the grindstone and we are now looking up at you. You have awakened us, the patriotic spirit so strong and so powerful that it had been sleeping too long. You have pushed us too far. Our numbers are great. They may surprise you. For every one of us who will be there, there will be hundreds more that could not come. Unlike you, we have their trust. We will represent them honestly, rest assured. They will be at the polls on voting day to usher you out of office. We have cancelled vacations. We will use our last few dollars saved. We will find the representation among us and a grassroots campaign will flourish. We didn't ask for this fight. But the gloves are coming off. We do not come in violence, but we are angry. You will represent us or you will be replaced with someone who will. There are candidates among us when hewill rise like a Phoenix from the ashes that you have made of our constitution.

Democrat, Republican, independent, libertarian. Understand this. We don't care. Political parties are meaningless to us. Patriotic Americans are willing to do right by us and our Constitution and that is all that matters to us now. We are going to fire all of you who abuse power and seek more. It is not your power. It is ours and we want it back. We entrusted you with it and you abused it. You are dishonorable. You are dishonest. As Americans we are ashamed of you. You have brought shame to us. If you are not representing the wants and needs of your constituency loudly and consistently, in spite of the objections of your party, you will be fired. Did you hear? We no longer care about your political parties. You need to be loyal to us, not to them. Because we will get you fired and they will not save you. If you do or can represent me, my issues, my views, please stand up. Make your identity known. You need to make some noise about it. Speak up. I need to know who you are. If you do not speak up, you will be herded out with the rest of the sheep and we will replace the whole damn congress if need be one by one. We are coming. Are we coming for you? Who do you represent? What do you represent? Listen. Because we are coming. We the people are coming.

Guns Stolen From Vehicles... AGAIN

Guns Stolen From Bubba's Car, Arrests Made

Three people have been arrested in connection to a string of car burglaries where guns were taken Wednesday night. Bubba The Love Sponge Clem, a local radio personality, had two guns taken from his car…

Investigators say they found six guns in the suspects' vehicle. Another gun was identified as a St. Petersburg Police Department-issued handgun. Police say the gun was stolen June 13 from an off-duty officer's personal vehicle.

Homeowner Kills Invasion Suspect - Deputies Say Incident Appears To Be Justifiable Homicide

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- A Seminole County homeowner shot and killed a man who kicked in the door to his home in what deputies said was a likely random home invasion. The shooting occurred at about 3:50 a.m. Friday in the 300 block of Magnolia Drive in Altamonte Springs. According to Seminole County sheriff's deputies, a masked man kicked in the door of the home, waking up a woman inside. She awakened her husband, who grabbed a gun and fired one round, striking and killing the assailant, deputies said.

Here is the video.

When an armed masked individual kicks in your door during the early hours of the morning intending to do harm to you and your family, Gun Shy's rules of engagement dictates the following protocol:

A) Diplomacy is definitely not an option

B) Their actions have clearly defined them as a Domestic Urban Terrorist

C) Their violent actions dictate that the are obviously "mineral deficient" in the lead category.

D) They are to be engaged immediately and without hesitation, and given lead therapy to cure their deficiency permanently, and to insure that other innocent law abiding Americans who are not capable of defending themselves against these germs will not have to suffer violence at the hands of these thugs in the future.

Mother of the Year

Mother Robs Wendy's With Daughter In Back Seat

After I wrote this commentary, the media added more details to the article I linked to. It turns out that the mother of the year was a crack smoker.

A three-year-old girl was taken along for the ride during her mother's crime spree in Brevard County. Cocoa police say it all started in the early hours of Friday morning when the mother, with her daughter in the backseat, decided to rob the Wendy's on US 1 in Cocoa. Police say she was armed with a gun and got away with $600 cash.
When the cops showed up, the suspect jumped in her car and took off. Police chased her for nearly 10 minutes and finally used stop sticks on her vehicle. One police car even blew a tire on the stop sticks.

It is evident that people are getting more desperate, more brazen, and more stupid as things change for the worse in this economy. I guess my curiosity is based on whether this woman was desperate to feed her child, or desperate to feed her drug habit. If this crime was done because of desperation to take care of her child, it is wrong, but Gun Shy can at least understand the motivation. If it was done due to addiction, then Gun Shy has another view. I have always believed that drug dealers are ruining our great nation. They have no conscience, and many innocent people are injured or killed when their customers go on crime sprees to obtain money to buy the pusher man’s poison. Gun Shy believes that when a drug dealer is taken into custody, during the trial and sentencing they need to be made aware of the fact, that if they are arrested a second time for the same charge and convicted, there will be a death sentence attached to the act. This is because they are destroying the lives of millions with their selfish behavior, as well as costing the taxpayers billions in lost wages, lost productivity, taxpayer money spent for law enforcement to investigate drug operations, fees to incarcerate drug dealers, court fees to prosecute, damage done to the victims of robberies that are done by their customers, health care for those who become catastrophically ill from drug abuse, etc.

Gun Shy also believes that any corrupt government official that directly benefits from illicit drug money should be tried for treason against our nation, and executed publicly once they are found to be guilty

Something to Ponder

Some more photos from Greg Volk can be found here.

Use the Gun Goofy

This is an old story from February 2007, but it should be duly noted by the readers:

Men Followed From Shooting Range, Robbed Of Guns

Oviedo police think two people may have been followed home and robbed after they left a local gun range…

"As far back as I can remember, this is the first time we've had anybody robbed for their guns at gunpoint," said Det. Adam Egert, Oviedo Police Department…

The stolen semiautomatic handguns are a .45 caliber Kimber, worth $1,200, and a .40-caliber Sigsauer, which gun shops sell for about $600.

Gun Shy thinks that is someone tried to rob me of my gun(s), I would quickly deem that the appropriate time to enter into a lead exchanging competition in an attempt to see whose shooting skills were in better working order. Maybe the victims had no intention of ever using their guns for self defense. In that case, they should have pursued another hobby. Weapons retention is an important part of firearms training, and Gun Shy would put that high on the list of skills to master early on in ones firearms training experience.

Your Driving Priveleges Have Been Revoked...PERMANENTLY

Deputy Shoots, Kills Suspect In Orange County

Officers say the incident happened during a narcotics stop. There were two suspects inside a car. According to deputies, the driver rammed the cruisers repeatedly.

A motor vehicle is a dangerous weapon. If you attack someone using a vehicle, there is a possibility that it will not end very well.

Todays Preparation Insures Tomorrows Success

Women Attacked, Robbed In Parking Lots - 2 Women Attacked In 2 Days

Police said a woman hit the victim and they both fell down in the parking lot. The suspect tried to reach inside the victim's purse to grab her wallet, but was unsuccessful. "She just walked behind me and tried to grab my purse and pulled me down and said, 'Give me your purse,' and started kicking me and hitting me with her Sprite bottle and I was just screaming, 'Help,' " the victim said.

And here is the problem. People who perpetrate these crimes are predators, and they look for someone who appears to be weak that can not fight back. People do not prepare to fail, they fail to prepare, and so when the time comes all they can do is cry "help". The streets of the greater Orlando area have become a jungle, and people need to realize that whenever they are out and about. You can either be a victim or a victor, but the time to choose and to prepare is now, and not when you find yourself in the heat of confrontation, and remember this. When you stop these predators, you may be saving the lives of the many who would be next on their list if you did not intervene with success. It is so much more effective when the perpetrators become the ones who are forced to "assume the position". Do your part to make the hunter become the hunted when a crime is foisted upon you or another fellow law abiding American. Stand up...it's the American way.

Note: From now on, Chicago will be referred to by its new name "Barry Town", and his knee jerk reactions to firearms related issues, will now be known as "B Jerking". (Gun Shy suffers from Barack-naw-phobia)

Our Allies in Israel Know More Than the U.S. Media Does

Here is an article of interest from Double Tappers blog. I find it ironic, that while many private citizens, some who are former military have been patrolling the border and posting videos on youtube about the incursions by foreign nationals, the media tries to demonize the concerned Americans as being the extremists. Go figure. FOX news did cover it in an adequate fashion on a few occasions. There are some who have just flat out said it.

Live-In Boyfriend Accused Of Stabbing Male Sheriff's Deputy

You Can't Even Play Mini Golf With Your Family in O-Town

While Orlando politicians are rewarding themselves with free box seat tickets to Magic games for a job well done, the town is showing multiple signs of being in rapid decline. Check out this news release about the new mini golf place that just opened up on the East side of town, just down the street from the UCF campus. I drove by there the other day and it was full of families with their kids playing miniature golf.

Drive By Shooting Rocks Mini Golf Course

A miniature golf course turned into a crime scene during a drive by shooting Sunday morning. Orange County deputies say someone opened fire at Congo River Golf" on Colonial Drive, just east of Alafaya Trail. It's not clear what led to the shooting, but no one was hurt. Eyewitnesses described the suspect vehicle as a silver Chevy Venture with a crack in the front windshield.

For the readers who are not familiar, this business is located in what is viewed as a nice area of town. I discussed how the crime demographics in Orlando has shifted in earlier commentaries such as this one. I also touched on the problem in this commentary.

So the next time you go to take you children to play some mini golf and see the alligators that they have at the establishment that was shot up, make sure you bring some hardware and set up perimeter security for your families safety, or a better idea might be to fire the current elected officials and get someone new in office that is a little more focused on the areas problems instead of their own entertainment.

Side Note:
If you live in Orlando and do not possess a concealed carry permit, it might be a good idea to get one. Of course with all of the efficiency going on in this State, it will now take you up to six months to get one. (it used to take ninety days maximum).

How Much Does Barry Pay Ms Pelosi to Cheer?

This is almost comical.

This definitely is.

Crime Pays...In Lumps

From the “you play around you lay around” file:

Would-Be Robber Gets Attacked

A robbery suspect was hospitalized after the group of people he tried to prey upon at an Orlando apartment complex, held him down and beat him up...

...By the time police arrived, at least ten people were on top of the suspect. “He said, oh please, leave me alone, please don’t kill me, please don’t kill me. So I said, please do not come over here again,” said Lopez...

...Lopez says people in the apartment complex are sick of crime and they have a stern message for any other would be robbers. “Please do not come again, cause you come again, you gonna die over here.”

NASA Gone Wild...

NASA chief tells employees to celebrate gay pride month

The Catholic News Agency reported this morning that National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s acting Chief Christopher J. Scolese sent an internal communication to all employees at the space agency directing them to organize and participate in Gay Pride Month celebrations.

On June 1st, President Obama issued a proclamation declaring June as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Pride Month. In it, the President affirmed his commitment to “support measures to bring the full spectrum of equal rights to LGBT Americans.” He listed among these measures the enhancement of hate crimes laws, support for civil unions and Federal rights, outlawing workplace discrimination, ensuring adoption rights and ending the ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ policy for homosexuals in the military service. The proclamation has even broader scope than the original one issued by President Clinton in 1999. Gay Pride Month proclamations were not issued during the presidency of George W. Bush. According to the CNA report, Mr. Scolese’s directive to the NASA staff stated in part:

“This month-long observance gives all of us an opportunity to appreciate the accomplishments of LGBT Americans and celebrate the many contributions members of the LGBT community make daily to the fabric of American life ...

“Take time to learn about the contributions of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans, and celebrate the diversity that has helped shape and strengthen NASA and our nation.”

OK...Gun Shy is baffled, so maybe I should ask the obvious question. What does someones sexual preferences, and what people do behind the closed doors of their bedrooms have to do with running a space agency? I am wondering if the NASA acting chief will now also assign a month to celebrate the contributions of heterosexuals (straight people) and focus on their sex lives, because it is just about as relevant in my opinion. Gun Shy is starting to wonder if all of the federal administrators drank some special kool aid at the Obama inauguration party, because the stuff that is coming out of Washington these days is so incredibly surreal. It is almost like Americans are now forced to look at everything through the reflection of a distorted fun house mirror. I can't help but wonder what will be the next edict issued by The Panderer in Chief. In a time when the long running shuttle program is winding down, and thousands will be losing their space industry jobs that are foundational when it comes to the local economy here in Central Florida, I would think that there are more urgent issues to be concerned about and to focus on. To me personally, this closely resembles the Nero Fiddled as Rome Burned effect. Here is another article from the net that might be just about as relevant to the day to day functioning and long term goals of the nations space program.

Another "Face" of Change

check out the guy in this article.

Nothing Left but the "Core"...

the apple is long gone folks:

City Leaders Deny WFTV Reporter Access To SkyBox

Practically everybody was watching the Orlando Magic lose a heartbreaker Thursday night and that includes the Orlando city leaders who refused to give up free SkyBox tickets to charity. WFTV reporter Mary Nguyen tried to go inside their SkyBox Thursday night, but found out she wasn't invited. Nguyen was invited into other people's SkyBox with open arms, but was told she wasn't welcome when she knocked on the city's door. She was told to leave and her crew was escorted downstairs...

...City commissioners Sam Ings and Patty Sheehan were inside, along with public information officer Heather Allebaugh...

Let's take a look at the salaries of the above mentioned individuals, and see what would compel them to hang on so tightly to these free tickets:

Public Information Officer - Heather Allebaugh -$56,014.40

Commissioner Patty Sheehan, District 4 $47,945.00

Commissioner Samuel B. Ings, District 6 $47,945.00

Granted, it isn't the $156,206 that the mayor receives, but in this economy, where single moms are working two and three jobs just to feed their children, $47, 945 would be a major blessing to those women. Why not let the tickets be auctioned off, and use that money to help families who are living on the streets. Those who represent the kingdom of "self" are getting to be annoying to this writer.

...Commissioner Sheehan wouldn't talk on camera, but said the tickets and a city parking spot are the only perks she receives. She'll be back in the SkyBox for Sunday's game.

Newsflash Ms Sheehan. In this economy where people are losing their homes and can't feed their families, a stable job with a decent wage is a perk. Be thankful for what you have, and allow those tickets to be auctioned off to help the needy. The title is public servant not self servant.

It's 12 o'clock...do you know where your pocket knife is??

...It may be our new national language if this keeps up.

I think that is it sad that the "woman in charge" doesn't have a clue, while the Chinese who are holding a big stake in our currency (which is rapidly becoming worthless) have a clear vision of the problem. Americans should quit worrying about sports teams, and concentrate more on how big their wheelbarrows will need to be to take their paper money down to buy a loaf of bread. It should be noted that Gun Shy addressed some of this insanity back in March of this year. You can read it here, and see where some of the money in question ended up.

Orlando Ranks High...

...in the indicators that demonstrate the decline of a city, as well as the quality of life for its citizens:

Orlando No. 8 In Foreclosure Rate

Locally, Orlando still ranks among the top 10 – at No. 8 – among large cities in foreclosure rates and Florida is No. 3, behind Nevada and California.

Let’s see now. We are number 18 in the Most Dangerous Cities category according to city crime rankings based on DOJ crime statistics. In cities with our size population, we are number nine. And Forbes rated us number six in their most dangerous cites in America survey.

Can someone explain to me why the mayor and his staff have box seat privileges at the Magic Games? Isn’t this like AIG awarding themselves bonuses after bankrupting the company? Maybe the city should sell those box seat privileges and have the top people take a "voluntary" salary cut, and then use that money for highway expenses, so that they can lower the tolls back to where they were. (the economy is horrible, there was public outcry and they still raised the tolls...go figure)

Gun Shy has only been back in the Orlando area for one year now, and I am shaking my head. Have the local residents become this desensitized?

As a side note, I found this list of salaries on the net. I am not certain of its accuracy, because there may have been raises since it was published, and some staff may have changed:

Mayor - Buddy Dyer -$156,205.66

Chief of Staff - Brie Turek -$127,004.80
Special Assistant to the Mayor - Joe Robinson -$115,003.20
Executive Assistant to the Mayor - Kathy Scanlon -$79,123.20
Administrative Specialist - Veronica Wilson -$57,179.20
Hispanic Affairs Advisor - Orlando Rolón -$94,099.20
Press Secretary - Carson Chandler -$87,568.00
Public Information Officer - Heather Allebaugh -$56,014.40
Director of Audit Services and Management Support - Beryl H. Davis -$121,284.80
City Clerk - Alana Brenner -$97,364.80
Director of Communications - Michele Brennan -$85,987.20
Director of Constituent Services - Reggie McGill -$92,393.60
Director of Human Relations - Shirley James -$95,492.80
Director of Intergovernmental Relations - Kathleen Russell -$107,744.00
Director of Neighborhood and Community Affairs - Marcia H. Goodwin -$117,748.80
Chief Administrative Officer - Byron Brooks -$174,012.80
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer - Kevin Edmonds -$148,116.80
Deputy Chief Administrative Officer - Deborah D. Girard -$148,116.80
Chief Financial Officer - Rebecca W. Sutton -$169,790.40
Deputy Chief Financial Officer - Ray Elwell -$122,012.80

Gun Shy thinks they should give the complimentary Magic tickets to the little guys like the toll collectors who sweat it out all day on Orlando's toll roads or the people who clean the city offices just so they can feed their families.

This was just reported in the local media:

City Leaders Won't Disclose Who They Gave Magic Tix To

Gun Shy has a question for the readers. How can you tell when a politician is lying?...Anyone?
