That is Your Reward For Giving Them A Break

Couple Fights Back Against Home Invaders

quote:

The couple took action and fought back against the two intruders. The homeowner even managed to get the crook's gun. "At that point I was going to take his life and he begged for his life, ''I don't want to die, I don't want to die, please don't kill me, let me go,'" said the homeowner. Afterward, the men ran off, but they turned around and shot at the house. One of the bullets grazed the homeowner's shoulder. Lee County deputies say they are looking for the two bold thieves.

Let’s review what happened in this incident. The homeowner made the bold move to disarm the assailant, and took control of his weapon. The homeowner then decided to give the violent home invaders a break. As they fled, they showed their gratitude for the break by throwing some hot lead at the homeowner who was struck in the shoulder.

Gun Shy’s first rule of engagement when dealing with Domestic Urban Terrorists is this. If you decide not to shoot them, once you have put the perpetrators under control (PUC), hold them at gunpoint until the authorities arrive. The very fact that you did not shoot them on sight was their break. If they try to attack you in the interim, then their break becomes null and void, and you immediately move to the original plan. If you suffer from a momentary lapse of reasoning and let them go, they will most likely go on to harm others, and you will be responsible morally because you did not end their spree of destruction when you had the chance to do so.
