New Article Teaser (F-35)
Unemployment was reported in the local news outlets this week to be at 12% for the State of Florida, although in reality if you factor in those who have stopped looking for work, it is more like 20%. How defense spending cuts have affected our economy, and what the voters will need to do to end the defense cuts that weaken our economy as well as the security of our nation will be the focus of the series that I am currently working on. I have been talking to my very knowledgeable aviation geeks as well as people who currently work for defense contractors and those who have already lost their jobs, and hopefully we will be able to put together the pieces and get a clearer view of what has transpired, who orchestrated it and why. If any of the readers were involved with the F-35 project, or have lost employment due to defense budget cuts related to this project, please contact me because I would like to hear your story. I think when the readers find out the number of Floridians that have been affected by this action, as well as the many other Americans affected on a national level job wise as well as security wise, it will surely anger and concern you.

After reading the anti gun diatribes that are promoted daily by the mainstream media and supported by many in the current administration, I was shocked to learn that two of the most well known promoters of nonviolence in the last century, as well as a very influential man of the first century that billions of people world wide still follow today, had specifically gone on record with comments that illustrate they were not anti-gun, or against defending ones self with a weapon. Gandhi wrote the excerpt below in his book entitled, An Autobiography (page 446 at bottom of page):

Terrorists Using Vehicles to Run Down Innocent Victims is Nothing New
The DHS has recently released a warning that during the holiday season, terrorists may try to do Mumbai style attacks, or run down Americans with vehicles. This tactic is nothing new, and this commentary will give the readers a little more insight.
I know this is a shock to some Americans, but this same tactic was used in Israel in 2008. Did the Israeli government lawyer up the attacker, try to make excuses why he did it, or try to call the act something other than terrorism? The answer is no, because even if they wanted to they didn't have a chance because the terrorist was shot dead on the spot. This is the same way that airplane hijackers are also handled in Israel. It is time for America to take a page from Israel's playbook on handling terrorism, as well as implementing effective airport security.

No One Ever Said That Carrying a Gun Would Be Comfortable...

(sorry Glock fans…couldn't resist the joke) Now we all know that a pistol is a pistol, and a rifle is a rifle, but with crime on the rise, and threats being made daily by terrorists against the American public, concealed carry is a much better option than attempting to throw a hand full of quarters at the perpetrators with hopes of stopping them. Now ask yourself this, which headline would you rather see?

We Lost Another One of Our Own
Orlando Soldier Dies In Afghanistan - Soldier Killed In Suicide Bomber Attack
We lost another local soldier in A-Stan this week. There were some other soldiers killed as well, and as the readers know, Gun Shy considers all of the Sons of America who go into battle and sacrifice on behalf of all of us "our own". I wish the media would quit referring to the killers as "suicide" bombers, because the intent is not to kill themselves, but to kill as many of our troops as possible, and they die as a by product of their actions. It is time for the media to start calling them what they are, which is "homicide" bombers.

Maybe they will be able to throw their walkie talkies at the perpetrators and stop the incident. Are you feeling safe yet?
Now, imagine the very real possibility of some jihadi a-hole thinking that he is going to do a mumbai style shooting in a mall near you, and who is going to be there to keep you and your family safe now that your right to self defense has been taken away. Will it be the mall cops and the local police? What will be the response time? Anyone who is aware of active shooters and response times, know that a quick response is of the essence. This is the kind of response that a trained patron carrying a concealed firearm when the incident starts to occur might be able to administer, but mall owners have insured through their negligent irresponsible actions that it will not be an option.

The only thing clean on him is his weapon and he made his web gear. He doesn't worry about what workout to do - his ruck weighs what it weighs, his runs end when the enemy stops chasing him. This True Believer is not concerned about 'how hard it is;' he knows either he wins or dies. He doesn't go home at 17:00, he is home. He knows only The Cause. Still want to quit?
Anyhow, the latest bombing attempt (if he had real explosives it would have been tragic) in Oregon should make Americans realize that we are not living in the same safe little world that we were decades ago. There are people who have deliberately flocked to America that hate us and what we stand for, and would get great joy from taking part in our demise. With the talk of Mumbai style attacks here, it is not if, but when they will mount an attack that needs to be understood at this juncture. For the last 50 years, Americans have existed under the mis-belief that there will always be someone to protect them. As 911 clearly proved, not everyone can be protected, so Americans have a choice. They can become pro active and in the event of an incident, they will be part of the solution, or they can wait around for that mythical someone or group who will save them. As Gun Shy always like to say, The Cavalry isn’t coming, and if they eventually do arrive, it will most likely be delayed due to human error, weather, mis-communication, logistical, mechanical and or technical problems. Americans need to start understanding that your personal protection begins with you.

Anyhow, the latest bombing attempt (if he had real explosives it would have been tragic) in Oregon should make Americans realize that we are not living in the same safe little world that we were decades ago. There are people who have deliberately flocked to America that hate us and what we stand for, and would get great joy from taking part in our demise. With the talk of Mumbai style attacks here, it is not if, but when they will mount an attack that needs to be understood at this juncture. For the last 50 years, Americans have existed under the mis-belief that there will always be someone to protect them. As 911 clearly proved, not everyone can be protected, so Americans have a choice. They can become pro active and in the event of an incident, they will be part of the solution, or they can wait around for that mythical someone or group who will save them. As Gun Shy always like to say, The Cavalry isn’t coming, and if they eventually do arrive, it will most likely be delayed due to human error, weather, mis-communication, logistical, mechanical and or technical problems. Americans need to start understanding that your personal protection begins with you.

The bottom line, is that Mayor Bloomberg would like to ban all guns...with the exception of the ones that his bodyguards use to protect him...hypocrite. Maybe we can get Paul Helmke of the (Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence) to start a new chapter..."The Coalition to End Basketball Violence" or something like that, and use Mr Obama as the poster boy. If there are a slew of accidents with unregistered basketballs, then Spaulding and other manufacturers will probably be forced into micro stamping. Of course, now we will need to set up "basketball free zones" near all schools. Yep, now that this has been brought to the national spotlight, it is time to tax and regulate, because after all, isn't that what this administration is all about?

Yep...that's the name of a company. To be more specific, a company out of Texas that sells just about everything that the readers would ever want when it comes to firearms related goodies, and so much more. Let me be clear about something here. This company gives me nothing, except good service and a good product for the price. I get nothing free, and I pay full price just like anyone else who would order from them. I usually do not do any endorsements, but this company has been consistent over the years, so I felt that it is something that I should pass onto the readers. I had a few items that were substandard (manufacturers fault not CTD fault) and they took back the merchandise and corrected the problem in a few days. I need a little help from the readers here. When law enforcement asks to see a persons identification during a police investigation in order to verify that they are in America legally, that is a violation of human rights that creates an international firestorm, but using back scatter x-rays or taking millimeter wave photos of peoples private parts and frisking people under their clothes (up skirts, inside waistbands, around bras) with absolutely no consent under penalty of a government orchestrated civil suit with fines up to $11000 is totally acceptable?

An Appropriate Story For Thanksgiving
I do not know if this story ever happened, but I am posting it to illustrate a point. My commentary will precede after.
I put my carry-on in the luggage compartment and sat down in my assigned seat. It was going to be a long flight. 'I'm glad I have a good book to read. Perhaps I will get a short nap,' I thought. Just before take-off, a line of soldiers came down the aisle and filled all the vacant seats, totally surrounding me. I decided to start a conversation. 'Where are you headed?' I asked the soldier seated nearest to me. 'Ft Drum. We'll be there for two weeks for special training, and then we're being deployed to Afghanistan. After flying for about an hour, an announcement was made that sack lunches were available for five dollars. It would be several hours before we reached the east, and I quickly decided a lunch would help pass the time...
As I reached for my wallet, I overheard a soldier ask his buddy if he planned to buy lunch. 'No, that seems like a lot of money for just a sack lunch. Probably wouldn't be worth five bucks. I'll wait till we get to base.' His friend agreed. I looked around at the other soldiers. None were buying lunch. I walked to the back of the plane and handed the flight attendant a fifty dollar bill. 'Take a lunch to all those soldiers.' She grabbed my arms and squeezed tightly. Her eyes wet with tears, she thanked me. 'My son was a soldier in Afghanistan; it's almost like you are doing it for him.' Picking up ten sacks, she headed up the aisle to where the soldiers were seated. She stopped at my seat and asked, 'Which do you like best - beef or chicken?' 'Chicken,' I replied, wondering why she asked. She turned and went to the front of plane, returning a minute later with a dinner plate from first class. 'This is your thanks.'
After we finished eating, I went again to the back of the plane, heading for the rest room. A man stopped me. 'I saw what you did. I want to be part of it. Here, take this..' He handed me twenty-five dollars. Soon after I returned to my seat, I saw the Flight Captain coming down the aisle, looking at the aisle numbers as he walked, I hoped he was not looking for me, but noticed he was looking at the numbers only on my side of the plane. When he got to my row he stopped, smiled, held out his hand and said, 'I want to shake your hand.' Quickly unfastening my seat belt I stood and took the Captain's hand. With a booming voice he said, 'I was a soldier and I was a military pilot. Once, someone bought me a lunch. It was an act of kindness I never forgot.' I was embarrassed when applause was heard from all of the passengers.
Later I walked to the front of the plane so I could stretch my legs. A man who was seated about six rows in front of me reached out his hand, wanting to shake mine. He left another twenty-five dollars in my palm. When we landed I gathered my belongings and started to deplane. Waiting just inside the airplane door was a man who stopped me, put something in my shirt pocket, turned, and walked away without saying a word. Another twenty-five dollars! Upon entering the terminal, I saw the soldiers gathering for their trip to the base. I walked over to them and handed them seventy-five dollars. 'It will take you some time to reach the base.. It will be about time for a sandwich. God Bless You.'
Ten young men left that flight feeling the love and respect of their fellow travelers. As I walked briskly to my car, I whispered a prayer for their safe return.. These soldiers were giving their all for our country. I could only give them a couple of meals. It seemed so little...
A veteran is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America ' for an amount of 'up to and including my life.'
That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer understand it.'
Not that was a really great feel good story, wasn't it? And in our hearts, we know that is the way it should be. I ran into one of my neighbors today, on his way to thanksgiving dinner with his lovely family. He is a helo pilot, and has already been deployed twice, once to Iraq and once to Afghanistan, and he may be on his way over for another tour. When I saw him this morning, I wondered how many thanksgivings he had missed with his wife and children previously while deployed. Young men like this make me proud to be an American.
I have talked to young soldiers like this one recently, and they told me that they have been told that when wearing a uniform stateside, they should be in groups in case someone decides to attack them or take a shot at them.....

Not that was a really great feel good story, wasn't it? And in our hearts, we know that is the way it should be. I ran into one of my neighbors today, on his way to thanksgiving dinner with his lovely family. He is a helo pilot, and has already been deployed twice, once to Iraq and once to Afghanistan, and he may be on his way over for another tour. When I saw him this morning, I wondered how many thanksgivings he had missed with his wife and children previously while deployed. Young men like this make me proud to be an American.
I have talked to young soldiers like this one recently, and they told me that they have been told that when wearing a uniform stateside, they should be in groups in case someone decides to attack them or take a shot at them.....
WHAAAAT??????
America needs to stop and take a look at what is going on in this nation. Political correctness is killing us, and has now become a threat to our people in the military. I believe personally, that it is time for America to get its back bone straightened and say 'enough' to stuff like this. If someone threatens our men in uniform (especially a foreign national), then straight up they have defined themselves as combatants and should be dealt with as such...period.

As I always say, if you want justice then you have to give justice. While Islamic groups are up in arms because Americans are not happy with mosques being built in their neighborhoods as the Islamic developers scream intolerance, Islamic factions are eliminating other religions such as Christians and Hindus by killing those people and their families who are the religious minorities in their countries, and destroying their houses of worship. Some Americans have realized this and have started to go to extremes to try and stop mosques from being built. You can find two videos about that here and also here.
