First let me say that the title is in no way trying to make fun of this tragic situation. What it is trying to illustrate is that the rules of engagement that law enforcement officers are forced to follow is deadly, while the criminals have no ROE or concern for innocent victims that may get caught in the crossfire.
Sheriff: Deputy Fired Taser Before Being Shot In Head
quote:
Sheriff Demings was somber and subdued as he spoke about the loss of the 27-year-old officer. Coates was a former U.S. Marine who served two tours in Iraq. He joined the sheriff's office nearly five years ago.
Coates was a member of the sheriff's honor guard and, earlier this week, received a special award for his part in a crackdown on gangs in the eastern part of the county.
How sad is it that this excellent young American made it through two tours of duty, and now has had his life cut short by an Orlando Domestic Urban Terrorist.
