New Jersey, Massachusetts, New York, Connecticut, and Hawaii round out the top six states with the strongest gun laws, with scores ranging to 72 from 50, respectively. Those states also have the lowest gun death rates in the nation.

Question for the readers:

With New York's tough gun laws, how did a convicted felon get an "assault rifle" and other guns used to murder firemen?

Answer:

Because criminals do not obey gun laws. Those laws only deter and disarm law abiding citizens, making them and their families defenseless against dangerous felons.
