By now, the name al Shabaab is probably becoming familiar to the readers, as it has been mentioned many times in earlier commentaries.

Somali man held two months faces charges

NEW YORK/WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Somali man suspected of assisting al Qaeda was held abroad on a U.S. Navy ship for questioning for over two months without being advised of any legal rights, an administration official said.

The man, identified as Ahmed Abdulkadir Warsame, was brought to New York City on July 4 to face charges in a U.S. criminal court.

He appeared in a New York court on Tuesday morning and pleaded not guilty to providing material support to al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula and the Somali group Al Shabaab, prosecutors in Manhattan said on Tuesday.

Warsame was arrested in April by the U.S. military in the Gulf, he was questioned about anti-terrorism "for intelligence purposes for more than two months" before being read his Miranda rights, the prosecutors said in a statement.

Miranda rights entitle suspects to a lawyer and the right to remain silent.

Somalia: Al-Shabaab forbids you to Save the Children

Somalia's Shebab rebels Tuesday banned the aid group Save the Children from operating in regions under their control, levelling a string of accusations against the organisation.

The Shebab's Office for Supervising the Affairs of Foreign Agencies said in a statement that it "revokes the permission of the organisation known as Save the Children to operate in any of the regions under the administration of the mujahideen."

It accused Save the Children of distributing expired porridge to children, as well as corruption and failing to comply with the rules laid down by the Al Qaeda-linked group.

The Shebab "strives to protect the welfare of the entire Muslim population of Somalia and will implement all necessary safety measures to dissuade competing organisations from degrading their quality of life," added the statement.

Save the Children projects in Somalia have included running health centres and treating malnourished children, digging wells, providing sanitation and upgrading and equipping schools.

If the somali insurgents didn't enjoy fighting American soldiers on their turf, they can be certain that they won't enjoy fighting all of the Americans who are former and current military on our turf. Just saying.

The japanese were smart enough to realize that in America, there is a gun behind every blade of grass. I guess the somali's didn't get the memo. If they try to attack us, they will be brought up to speed very quickly.
