Okay...Here's Your Apology...BITE ME!

A fine example of bad parenting:

Furious Parents Take On Daytona Top Cop - Parents Speak Out Against Daytona Beach Police Chief Michael Chitwood

quote:

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Chief Mike Chitwood is one of the more outspoken officers in Central Florida and he had a lot to say about forty men and women arrested last week in a city wide crackdown.

Chitwood called the suspects "gangsters" and "drug dealers" after they were busted on gun and drug charges in a massive sting called "Operation 819." Police said the suspects were known as members of the "819 Boys Street Gang", many of which had 819 tatooed on their bodies.

Police say the gang got its name from an apartment complex that use to be at 819 South Street.

Furious parents marched to Daytona Beach City Hall Wedsnday night to take on Police Chief Mike Chitwood. They are now speaking up saying their kids are not gang members and want an apology from the chief.

Leroy Houston's son was arrested during the round up. Houston agrees his son should pay for what he did, but he doesn't agree with the label the chief put on him. "Don't call me a rapist if I'm not. Don't call me a murderer if I'm not," Houston said.

Chitwood says the name slanging isn't the real issue here, he says parents need to take responsibility and isn't taking back what he said. "If you want to split hairs over the gang issue, that's fine. You're still a gun touting, drug dealing thug."

Whether these suspects are gang members or not, Chitwood says the crimes they are being charged with are not changing.
