The War Zone Known as Orlando

Man Shot In Drive-By, Suspect Arrested

quote:

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators say an innocent security guard was randomly shot while walking an Orange County street and deputies didn’t have to go far to find the man they believe pulled the trigger. Deputies say a car with several men inside fired on the security guard along Lee Road and Edgewater Drive (see map) around 9:00pm Monday.

Deputies tracked down the suspect, 30-year-old John Esteban Sernaat, the Wendy’s on North Orange Blossom Trail and John Young Parkway. Orange County detectives say Serna pulled the trigger and he is now in the Orange County jail charged with attempted murder.

Serna has been arrested seven times since 1999 and just got out of jail for aggravated assault earlier this month. Investigators still aren't releasing the name of the man they say he tried to kill Monday night.

Deputies said the man was walking to the bus stop on the corner of Lee Road and Edgewater Drive, going to work his shift in downtown Orlando where he is a security guard.

“Legitimate victim, he's walking to work and, for no apparent reason, the suspect just drove by and shot him several times,” said Corporal Susan Soto of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.

Gun Shy has a few questions that the media never has the guts to ask politically correct as they are. Was this guy an illegal and was the gun stolen? There is no way that this guy could own a firearm legally because of his prior record.
