You know what this reminds me of? I once spoke with a person who grew up in the east bloc under the communist system. It was recounted to me how while the citizens were standing on bread lines, the elites were shopping in private supermarkets stocked with caviar and champagne while acting like they were all comrades. The first family's whole "let them eat cake" attitude is wearing a little thin on the American public these days it seems.
