Do You Want to Play Laser Tag?

Laser Forces Sheriff's Chopper To Land - Laser Located; 3 Questioned

quote:

Three people were being questioned after a laser was twice pointed at the eyes of an Orange County sheriff's helicopter pilot, who was forced to land the aircraft because his eyes were irritated, Local 6 News has learned. The helicopter was overhead a reported robbery on Orange Blossom Trail at Central Florida Parkway Saturday morning when the laser beam was directed toward the pilot. The second time the laser was pointed at the pilot, his eyes became irritated, Local 6 News reported.

There is a simple solution to this dangerous problem. There is a term called “painting”. It is when you use a laser to indicate a target, and then send out ordnance that tracks that laser to “find” its way to said target. They need to install a system that will track the source where the laser originates from, and then send them down a little present from the helo. The person pointing the laser at the helo will be the POI (point of impact). This is as surgical as you can get.
