Gun Shy Salutes This Brave Young Woman

Woman Chases Men Out Of Home With Machete

quote:
ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- A young woman arrived at her home Tuesday only to find a strange SUV parked in her driveway with a crying baby inside and two men burglarizing her house. The UCF student said she walked through the garage to get into her home in Orange County, grabbing a machete on the way in. "I just got really angry and my adrenaline started pumping," said burglary victim Heather Bailey…

…Bailey said the fact that they left a child in the car to commit a burglary, set her off. "The windows are down and the first thing I see is a 2-year-old girl crying in Spanish that she wants someone, she was hot cause it was really hot today," said Bailey. Heather Bailey caught them red-handed rummaging through her family home and that's when the foot-long machete became her deterrent to crime…

… Heather Bailey says she whacked the vehicle with the machete as they sped out of the driveway.

Maybe they were shocked to see an anglo wielding a machete. Now for the Gun Shy evaluation/lecture. I am glad that it turned out well for this young lady, but if the assailants had guns, it may have been a much different outcome. Realistically, she could have been beaten, raped, and killed. I have empathy for her indignation, but when you decide to go in on a situation such as this, a better plan should be the order of the day.
