Official: Firecracker set off on Detroit airliner

Even though the flight did not originate in the U.S., I can assume that the plane was full of Americans. What happened to the high tech sniffers that profile explosives? Surely the nitrates in the gunpowder would have set them off, wouldn't they? Airports will never be able to take low paid employees, and make them "take ownership" for your safety and well being.
Now, doesn't it make you feel "safe" when they make grandma take her shoes off?
