Obama's Change is Here

Camden Tent City Residents Get A Reprieve

quote:

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) ― Homeless people who built a community of campground tents just a few blocks from downtown Camden got a reprieve Thursday, allowing them to remain, at least for now, at the self-governing settlement in one of the nation's poorest cities...

...Banks, a Vietnam War veteran who says it's been 37 years and 11 months since he had a home, said he found the woods a few blocks from downtown Camden about four years ago.
He and some other homeless people cleaned it up, wrote rules and invited others to live there.

Camden is a hell hole that is just outside Philadelphia. While lending institutions were being bailed out, people have been losing thier homes at an alarming rate. I wonder if the people in this encampment are familiar with the lyrics from this John Mellencamp song:

Oh, but ain't that America
For you and me
Ain't that America
Something to see, baby
Ain't that America
Home of the free, yeah
Little pink houses
For you and me
Oooh, yeah
For you and me

Hey...the recovery is just around the corner.(wink wink)
