An Interesting Saying For Interesting Times

I believe it was written by an SF guy. Here it is:

Somewhere a True Believer is training to kill you. He is training with minimal food or water, in austere conditions, training day and night. The only thing clean on him is his weapon and he made his web gear. He doesn't worry about what workout to do - his ruck weighs what it weighs, his runs end when the enemy stops chasing him. This True Believer is not concerned about 'how hard it is;' he knows either he wins or dies. He doesn't go home at 17:00, he is home. He knows only The Cause. Still want to quit?

Anyhow, the latest bombing attempt (if he had real explosives it would have been tragic) in Oregon should make Americans realize that we are not living in the same safe little world that we were decades ago. There are people who have deliberately flocked to America that hate us and what we stand for, and would get great joy from taking part in our demise. With the talk of Mumbai style attacks here, it is not if, but when they will mount an attack that needs to be understood at this juncture. For the last 50 years, Americans have existed under the mis-belief that there will always be someone to protect them. As 911 clearly proved, not everyone can be protected, so Americans have a choice. They can become pro active and in the event of an incident, they will be part of the solution, or they can wait around for that mythical someone or group who will save them. As Gun Shy always like to say, The Cavalry isn’t coming, and if they eventually do arrive, it will most likely be delayed due to human error, weather, mis-communication, logistical, mechanical and or technical problems. Americans need to start understanding that your personal protection begins with you.
