Personal Safety (home invasions)

Victim ID'd In Deadly Home Invasion - 24-Year-Old Shot In West Melbourne

WEST MELBOURNE, Fla. -- For the third time in a week in Brevard County, a home invasion has resulted in a shooting death. Shortly after 9 p.m. Friday, gunmen broke into a house at 6844 Idlewylde Circle and confronted several people inside the single-family home, police said. Shots were fired, and one person, identified Saturday as Rusty W. Locke, 24, died at the scene, according to police. A second victim -- who remains unidentified -- was taken to Melbourne's Holmes Regional Medical Center in "very critical condition," according to Brevard County sheriff's spokeswoman Sgt. Linda Moros.

Here in O-Town we have the potential to have three home invasions in one day (maybe even one hour). It looks like Brevard County is racing to catch up. Brevard county is a pandora's box that is just starting to open like it did here in 2005 when the homicide rate escalated. They had better get the lid closed before it turns into another Orlando. With all of the criminal activities these days, people need to start thinking defensively, and reinforce their doors and get a firearm (or two) and become skilled in their utilization. This way when the thugs attempt to get get violent, the solution is just a squeeze or two away.

Okay now for a quiz:

Question What do you call three armed violent thugs on your front porch at 3 am trying to break down your door with the intention of robbing your home and doing violence to you and your family?

Answer If you are prepared, and have positioned yourself in a way that you can administer effective fire, then that is commonly known as a target rich environment.

PEOPLE DON'T PREPARE TO FAIL...THEY FAIL TO PREPARE

Special thanks to Steve-o for the Q&A concept
